Pantry is an app that I created. The idea behind this app is the dreaded 'what am I going to make for dinner' question that we all have too often. So, in theory, the user would be able to go through and select the items that are in their pantry and the app would generate recipes based on what the user has on hand.
There would be a variety of different recipes to fit whatever you're in the mood for along with step by step cooking instructions. If you have certain dietary restrictions or a picky eater, you can select your preferences before Pantry delivers your results so that you can find what fits your needs. The app would give you a variety of options based on the items you selects and dietary needs.
The detailed recipe page would give you an at a glance view of all the information you always want to know first: how long is this going to take, how hard is it, do people like this recipe, and how many people will this serve. In the directions section, there will be timers set up for the items that need them so you’re not having to use your kitchen appliance timers or trying to remember which timer on your phone was set for what item.
By using Adobe XD, I was able to create a fully functional prototype that you can see looping here.
Adventure Caroline is an outdoor excursion company that is based in Columbia, South Carolina. They specialize in kayak, canoe, raft, and tubing trips on the surrounding rivers. Because It is right inside the city, I wanted to create a more urban feel for adventure to attract a younger working crowd from the city and give the appeal of "adventure is closer than it seems". I choose to create the logo from the initials of the company into the kayaking based river trips that they offer. I added my hand-done watercolor and salt texture to the other products to continue the water theme throughout the brand so that the customer would always have water in the back of their mind. I wanted the typography to be vivid and eye catching to draw the attention of new and younger customers and breathe some life into products that may be boring in a traditional sense. After rebranding, I believe that Adventure Carolina has taken on the clever and imaginative direction I was hoping for.
Joy's Noodles & Rice is a Thai and Pan Asian restaurant in the Boystown and Lakeview neighborhoods of Chicago, Illinois. This neighborhood has a very vibrant culture and I wanted the restaurant to be reflective of that. I took the iconic shape of a takeout box and combined it with the art of origami to create the unique mark where the traditional meets the present. For me it was crucial to have an iconic mark that would be quickly recognizable from a distance so I took a more geometric approach. Playing off of the vibrancy of the neighborhood, it was important to bring in bright, bold colors into the brand. I created some traditional and modern patterns to carry throughout the brand to continue the theme of old meets new. Ultimately I believe that this rebrand would fit in perfectly with the Boystown neighborhood.
At Manifest, I have had the pleasure to work on the University of Michigan Health. In addition to revamping their University of Michigan Health blog, we have created an entirely new blog site for them called University of Michigan Health Lab. On the Lab site, we focus on breaking medical news, cutting edge medical innovations (such as medical technology or new procedures), and medical research.
Our goal in creating new styles for the Health and Lab blogs was to make healthcare exciting with unique visuals and diverse content. I have included some of the illustrations that have been used on the blogs as well as the social channels (such as Facebook, Twitter, and tumblr).
For the most up-to-date visuals (and stories!) please check out their websites at michiganhealthlab.org and healthblog.uofmhealth.org
